Youth Ministry Forms
The Church of the Holy Spirit believes that young people are an
important, integral part of our parish community. They are the future of our church. Youth Ministry begins with
JAM (Junior Activities Ministries) for our 6th, 7th and 8th graders, and continues
through the high school years with the YPA (Young People’s Association). Teens
have fun in a nurturing environment that encourages them on their faith
journey. There are many opportunities for spiritual growth in our parish and in
the broader community.
Junior Activities Ministries (JAM)
These activities are open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders, not
just those enrolled in PRE or Confirmation Preparation.
Activities include parish service opportunities (Wednesday
Nite Supper clean-up, assisting at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, and
the Haiti Tour d’Esprit race), devotional gatherings (“Prayer, Pizza,
and Movie” nights, Holy Hours, and Stations of the Cross), and social
outings (bowling, Laser Quest, and a summer trip).
Be sure to look in the weekly bulletin, the JAM Bulletin
Board, and the “Youth News” web site for upcoming JAM
activities. If you would like to receive
JAM email updates, please email Wendy firstname.lastname@example.org.
YPA (Young People’s Association)
All HIgh School youth are welcome to come when YPA meets on
Sunday nights from 6:30-8:30. YPA Membership includes the following
Socializing – Teens develop
long-lasting friendships in YPA by coming together each week to play games and
catch up. There are chances to leave the church campus for some
fun such as camping trips, a winter ski retreat, swimming parties, and
nights around town (bowling, haunted corn maze, dinners out, etc.).
Spirituality – Sharing our faith
with one another is an important aspect of YPA. There are many ways in
which we develop our faith. Some of them include youth-led discussions
that are relevant to teens’ lives, guest speakers, praise and worship services,
adoration, serving as Liturgical Ministers, and other activities here at the
parish. Holy Spirit youth actively participate in the diocesan youth
retreat opportunities (Voyage, Quest, Search, and DYC).
Service – “Like good
stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift
each of you has received.” (1 Peter 4:10) Everyone is called to
serve. The youth at Holy Spirit have many opportunities to serve others
in the parish and in the community. They can even earn service hours by
participating in service projects. Opportunities to serve
include: Tour d’Esprit, PRE teacher’s aide, VBS assistant, KICS
ministry aide, Catholic HEART Workcamp.
Check out the weekly bulletin, the YPA Bulletin Board, and
the “Youth News” web site for upcoming YPA activities. If you would like weekly updates emailed to
you, please email Wendy. Wendy.email@example.com.
