Mothers' Day Out 

The goals that are listed belowbuild one upon another. Our primary goal at Mothers' Day Outis to help a child feel comfortable about leaving mom anddad for the day and develop a love of learning. One childmay meet some goals and not others. Most children meet thesegoals when they are ready and not a minute earlier.


Babies:
  • To feel comfortable separatingfrom parents.
  • To develop a positiveself-concept.
  • To recognize play areas withinthe classroom.
  • To enjoy parallelplay.

Toddler I:
  • To learn to take turns and playfairly.
  • To sit at the table for snack,lunch and craft time.
  • To learn to restquietly.
  • To discover the joy of readingthrough storytime.
  • To follow simple verbaldirections.
  • To introduce simple primarycolors and shapes.
  • To enjoy and experience musicthrough songs, dramatic expression andmovement.

Toddler II:
  • To learn to rest quietly on nappads.
  • To reinforce good table mannersand appropriate social behavior.
  • To cooperate during group timeand story time. .
  • To experience theme conceptssuch as seasons, community helpers,Halloween,
  • Thanksgiving, animals, love,etc.
  • To be introduced to the properuse of art materials.

Toddler III:
  • To communicate with the teacher and fellow students.
  • To recognize and respect authority.
  • To participate in group activities.
  • To learn to take turns and play fairly.
  • To increase self-control.
  • To increase attention span.
  • To follow verbal directions.
  • To practice the use of scissors.

Pre-School:
  • To recognize left to right squence in reading.
  • To play role of both follower and leader.
  • To understand rules are necessary for safety.
  • To seek answers to questions.
  • To encourage problem solving through common sense.
  • To distinguish between fact and fantasy.
  • To recall simple sequence.
  • To increase the number of words used meaningfully.
  • To experience the alphabet through everyday actvities.
  • To explore numerals 1-10.
  • To recognize the calendar and clock as instruments of measuring time.
  • To recognize spatial concepts: over, under, in, out, etc.
  • To know some opposite words (hot/cold)
  • To recognize shapes and colors.
  • To recognize own first name in print.
  • To develop eye/hand coordination .
  • To acquire an understanding of the world through theme concepts such as family life, transportation, communication, community helpers, science wonders, etc.

Pre-Kindergarten:
  • To increase self-control.
  • To increase attention span and develop listening skills.
  • To follow more "complex" verbal directions.
  • To recognize signs and symbols as a means for self-expression and obtaining information.
  • To appreciate spoken and written language as a source of knowledge and pleasure.
  • To discover the joy of reading through story time.To recognize letters of the alphabet.
  • To recognize letters of the alphabet.
  • To associate letters with the sounds they make.
  • To explore upper and lower case letters.
  • To recognize first and last name in print.
  • To trace own first name.
  • To recognize patterns.
  • To reinforce counting sequence, number recognition, and counting objects.
  • To acquire a simple understanding of basic math processes through practical daily application.
  • To know how to use scissors and glue properly.
  • To properly hold crayon, pencil and marker.
  • To know own first name, last name, parents' names, home address and phone number.
  • To develop a lifelong love of learning.
