Church of the Holy Spirit

An important part of your Confirmation preparation is your selection of the person you would like to be your sponsor. This person will accompany you during this special time in your faith life and hopefully beyond! It is imperative to keep in mind that this decision is yours to make.

The Church has some "guidelines" that you need to follow in making your choice of sponsor - your sponsor must:

Be at least sixteen (16) years old
Already be confirmed
Not be one of your parents
"Lead a life in harmony with the faith and the role to be undertaken." *

In addition, please consider the following when making your selection:

Your sponsor cannot be a sponsor for someone else this year at Holy Spirit
Your sponsor should be someone who is willing to make a commitment to you and to the program

Finally...keep in mind that you will be spending a lot of time with this person over the course of the next several months...so make sure that you pick someone you can relate to easily and with whom you feel comfortable.

Keep in mind that choosing a sponsor is a very important decision and one that should not be taken lightly. If you are having trouble making a choice, please feel free to talk to one of the Confirmation team.

When you have decided on a sponsor, please complete the Sponsor Form and return it to class no later than 10-24-07.
